How many guests can be accommodated?

Up to ten per chalet, including two on extra beds in the living area. Babies do not count towards this total.

How big is a chalet?

Approximately 128 m²: 96.92 m² of interior space plus 30.78 m² of terrace and balcony.

How accessible are the chalets?

Eight chalets can be reached from the car park without having to climb any steps. The chalets themselves have two levels connected by a staircase and are not wheelchair accessible. Please discuss any special requirements with us before booking.

Is there a chalet suitable for people with allergies?

One of our chalets is specially equipped for people with allergies.

  • Smooth floors, no carpet.
  • Allergen-proof covers for mattresses, pillows and duvets.
  • Cleaned using mild, allergy-friendly products.
  • No pets and no smoking. Please notify us in advance if you are bringing an assistance dog.

What is included in the price?

Included are bed linen, towels, energy, parking and Wi-Fi. The final clean costs €150 per chalet per stay and is shown separately.

Can we cancel free of charge?

The cancellation policy depends on the rate. With the flexible standard rate, you can cancel free of charge up to 21 days before arrival; after that, this sliding scale applies. Special offer rates have their own terms and conditions – you can view these for each rate and before finalising your booking.

Do we need to pay a deposit?

Only if a deposit or card guarantee is expressly stated or agreed prior to booking.

Is there a visitor’s levy on top?

In addition, the local visitor’s levy applies: currently €3.00 per person per day, and €1.65 per child per day for children aged 6 to 17. Statutory reductions and exemptions remain unaffected.

Getting here & your stay.

When can we arrive?

Check-in from 3 pm, check-out by 11 am. You will receive the keybox code by email the day before.

How do we get hold of the keys?

One day before your arrival, you’ll receive your arrival information by email, including the code for the key box at the front door. There are two keys inside.

Can we arrive earlier or leave later?

You can enquire about early check-in from 1 pm or late check-out until 1 pm as an extra – a one-off charge of €50 in each case.

Where can we park?

The complex is car-free. Parking is available on Birkenweg. It is no more than 80 metres to your chalet.

What rules apply during your stay?

Quiet hours are from 10 pm to 7 am. Partying is permitted until 10 pm. Smoking is not permitted in the chalets. The site is car-free.

Where can we go shopping and eat out?

Tante Enso is located at Rathausstraße 21. During opening hours, you can shop as usual; outside these hours, you can gain entry using the Tante-Enso card. You can find the current opening hours directly from the shop. You can find restaurants and cafés in the village via the tourist information office.

What needs to be done before departure?
  • Check-out by 11 am.
  • Start the dishwasher.
  • Take out the rubbish.
  • Clean the electric grill.
  • Take your personal belongings and food with you.
  • Close the windows.
  • Please leave both keys on the dining table.

We take care of the final cleaning. It costs €150 per chalet per stay and is shown separately at the time of booking.

Sauna & bathroom.

Does each chalet have its own sauna?

Yes. It belongs to your chalet and is for your exclusive use.

Do we need the sauna package?

No. Towels are provided in the chalet. Optionally, you can purchase the sauna package for €9 and sauna fragrance for €7.

What are the rules for using the sauna?

The information is available in the chalet. You’ll find instructions and rules in advance under ‘All about your stay’.

  • You can use the sauna in your chalet at any time.
  • Read the instructions before using the sauna for the first time.
  • Do not place any objects on the sauna stove.
  • Do not leave children unattended.

Are there high chairs and cots available?

A cot (for children up to 2.5 years old, one-off charge of €15) and a high chair (free of charge) are provided in every chalet. If you need any more, please let us know in advance.

Do babies count towards the number of beds?

No. Babies are not counted when determining the number of sleeping places.

Dogs welcome.

Can our dog come along?

Yes, in 13 out of 14 chalets, with up to two dogs per chalet. Simply specify your dog when booking: €18 per day per dog.

Travelling with several dogs?

Up to two dogs per chalet are permitted, at a cost of €18 per dog per day. Please feel free to ask us if you have any further questions.

Do dogs have to be kept on a lead?

In Lower Saxony, dogs must be kept on a lead in woods and fields from 1 April to 15 July. In the Harz National Park, this applies all year round.

What do the 4 out of 5 paws mean?

The ‘paws’ rating system from DTV and DeineTierwelt rates dog-friendly holiday accommodation on a scale of 1 to 5 paws. Our 13 dog-friendly chalets have been awarded 4 out of 5 paws.

Is breakfast provided?

The breakfast buffet is served at the Hotel Walpurgishof, around 900 metres from the chalets. Please book directly with the hotel by the day before. Bringing your dog? Simply mention this when booking.

Can we give a holiday as a gift?

A gift voucher for the amount of your choice for a break in our chalets, sent by email or post. For Christmas, please order by email by 23 December, or by post by 20 December. We will then arrange payment and delivery with you.

Can we hire bicycles?

You can hire bikes from Outdoorcenter Harz in Clausthal-Zellerfeld. Bookings are made directly with the provider. Prices, seasonal availability and delivery terms can be found directly on the provider’s website. Payment is also made there.

How much does a conference package cost?

A working day in the chalet with two coffee breaks – the three packages differ in terms of what’s served. The full-day package costs €59 per person per day. This includes technical support and service, drinks and two coffee breaks. You can choose between ‘Vitamin Kick’, ‘Energy Boost’ and ‘Candy Snack’.

Are there meeting rooms for larger groups?

For groups of up to 35 people, there is a conference room at the Hotel Walpurgishof, 900 metres from the holiday village. Enquiries are handled directly by the hotel.

We organise work and accommodation separately. Each chalet sleeps up to ten people, two of whom sleep on extra beds.

A walk through the woods, a break by the water. Around Hahnenklee, you’ll find routes for short walks and long days out.

  • Upper Grumbach Valley circular walk: 4.3 km, approx. 1 hour 15 mins.
  • Schalke circular walk: 5.5 km, approx. 1 hr 45 mins.
  • Liebesbankweg: around 7 km, approx. 2½ hours.
  • Hexenbank circular walk: 7.3 km, approx. 2 hours 30 mins.
  • Via the Bocksberg to Goslar: 8.9 km, approx. 2 hours 45 mins.
  • Oberharzer Teiche circular walk: 10.7 km, approx. 3 hours.
  • Circular walking route to Wildemann: 13.3 km, approx. 3 hours 45 mins.

Is Hahnenklee a good place for a mountain bike holiday?

On the Bocksberg, the chairlift takes you and your bike up to the top. You ride back down on lines graded from blue to black. The Volksbank Arena Harz has 74 signposted circular routes covering around 2,300 kilometres.

Are there any gravel routes around Hahnenklee?

Dedicated gravel routes start in Clausthal-Zellerfeld and Goslar. Many of the easy and moderately difficult mountain bike routes in the Volksbank Arena Harz are also suitable.

Is the Harz a good place for road cycling?

According to the Harz Tourism Association, the conditions are ideal for cycling, with gradients of up to 18 per cent.
